Facebook Republican National Convention Booth Event - 2016
Cleveland, Ohio
In this digital age, the places we choose to visit, eat, shop, and learn at increasingly need to be Instagrammable. It’s part of a wider phenomenon of public and private spaces being designed to appeal to the users of such apps. Restaurants were at the forefront of Instagramization. Restaurant owners have become increasingly aware of the importance and power of design, since social media mentions can make or break their success. As a restaurant designer, this means going for photo-friendly background materials that incorporate the company’s logo, whimsical furniture, and more hoping they will wind up shared in a snap. At the Republican National Convention, we took this expertise to the Facebook event space by designing a modular space begging to be photographed and shared on social media. The end result allowed the RNC to reach a exponentially broader audience than just the conference attendees.
